Stokely's Mikey D
This trial used to be known as the Northeastern Woodcock Championship and ran Labor Day weekend. At that time it was the first trial of the season and usually drew a big entry. Two year in a row I was fortunate to have Stokely's Mikey D take the runner-up spot. In the fall it was tough place to find a bird and the first time he placed Mikey dug out two woodcock. The second time he was birdless until late in the hour when he took a long cast onto the next course and stuck a woodcock. Jack has had some good races on these grounds and found a bird or two -- hopefully he'll have good showing this year although, if it keeps snowing he may be confused by the bare ground.
